Spotlight on Adva Cohen, Iowa Central College
A month doesn't go by this year when Adva Cohen didn't set a record, receive a national award or win a big race. This weekend Adva won the 3000M Steeplechase at the Drake Relays, setting a meet record and a new Israeli national record. Earlier this month, Adva signed to start her sophomore year at the University of New Mexico, one of the top track programs in D1 women's sports. Why are we especially proud of her? As a young woman that had a hard time with the English language at the beginning of college this past August, she is now quoting A.A. Milne in her Facebook post:
"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem & smarter than you think" -A.A. Milne
The DRAKE RELAYS this weekend was unbelievable! Some of my dreams came true! A big thank you to the audience for making this experience unforgettable! ☺
I ran my favorite event the 3000SC and I set another Israeli national record, meet record, NJCAA record, school record and qualified for the European Championships in August: 9:52.37!!!
